Fiorella Battaglia obtained her doctorate in 2004 at the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Naples "L'Orientale" (supervised by Prof. Dr. Rossella Bonito Oliva). From 2006 to 2010, she was a research associate in the interdisciplinary research group "Functions of Consciousness" at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and, from 2008 to 2013, lecturer at the Institute of Philosophy, Humboldt University of Berlin. From 2010 to 2011, she was a research associate as part of the project PSYCHE "Personalized monitoring Systems for Care in Mental Health" (funded by the EU Commission) at the University of Pisa, as well as principal investigator of the research group "RoboLaw: Regulating Emerging Robotic Technologies in Europe: Robotics facing Law and Ethics" (funded by the EU Commission) from 2012 to 2013 at the Institute of Philosophy, Humboldt University of Berlin. She has been working at the Chair of Philosophy and Political Theory since 2013. In 2016, she completed her habilitation on "The normative concept of human nature".
